WMES Band Night!
Wednesday, August 20th
5:30 pm in the WMES Cafeteria
Learn about our band! I will hand out our band handbook, collect band contracts, and Joel Smith from Joel Smith Music will be there to answer questions you may have about rentals.
Returning Band Students (Rising 5th Graders):
- If you came to band night last year, you don't need to attend, but you can if you would like.
- If your child borrowed an instrument from the school last year, your child could still borrow this year - you will need to fill out a new loan agreement to borrow.
- HOWEVER, if you didn't come to band night last year and/or you would like to start renting an instrument for your child this year, PLEASE attend band night!
New Band Students (Rising 4th Graders or 5th Graders joining band this year):
- Please attend band night!!
- Please bring any and all questions you might have and ask them!
- Come hear about Joel's rental program and my input about renting BEFORE trying to buy an instrument anywhere else (this can save you money in the long run, trust me).
- If your child will be using an instrument from someone else (sibling, parent, cousin, etc) you can bring it to band night and I will look it over and make sure it is ready to go (or Joel can take it to tune it up, if we think it needs that).
- If you find after listening to everything that band isn't an interest anymore OR you are unable to rent an instrument, I am happy to talk about alternatives to rental. The school does have instruments to loan, but these are VERY limited.
If you cannot attend band night and are a brand new starting band student, please email me (kfrase@talbotschools.org) so that I can have a band handbook ready for your child when the school year starts. I can't wait to see everyone and start another wonderful year showcasing the many talents of our band!

Dear TCPS Families,
Talbot County Public Schools has transitioned to a new procedure for planning school bus routes. In the past, students were automatically assigned to buses based on their home address. For the 2025-2026 school year, bus routes will be assigned BY REQUEST ONLY.
This is a reminder that the Transportation Opt-In Form for the 25-26 school year must be submitted on or before July 31. If you have not already done so, please refer to the email sent from noreply@transfinder.com in early June, and submit a form for each student to EITHER opt in or opt out of bus transportation. Thank you!
